Please add mandarin but otherwise great app. Using it to learn German at the moment.

I was so excited for the update because I thought finally we would get to have the option of learning Korean but nope. Still have to use other apps:/ still a great app I love duo but cmon. Also wish I knew how to delete a selected language because I picked one I didnt mean to on accident and am almost out of room to add more..

Im 63 and apparently you can teach a old dog new tricks. Excellent and fun way to learn a language.

After the latest update, I got logged out by the app. I accidentally logged in with an old account, and theres no way to sign out in the app. So Im stuck with an old account that is about halfway complete compared to where I am in my new account, until the next update. Im not using the app at all, because the lesson levels Im at on this old account are so basic. Disappointing.

A poor teacher tells you that youre wrong, but fails to explain why. Thats exactly what this is. Its frustrating that it never explains the grammatical context of your mistakes. The heart system is weak. The android version is exponentially better. If the devs actually read this, learn how to program better. Youre not good at your jobs.

No app support. App wont let me log into my profile- its requiring a new acct which would make me lose all my work to date. Help !

When youve lost all of your health, you cannot continue without spending gems or actual money. This feature is discouraging for learning and needs to be removed!

This app has become garbage with the health system, now the only way to continue is to either pay to play, or do a pointless review that has more advanced words that the user doesnt even know from other lessons.

I like the concept but there are a few problems. It asks you to "record what he or she says." It does not say "translate what he or she says" but somehow you are supposed to know that. Also, it does not recognize my voice because it always says what I say is wrong.

The lessons are well laid out and reinforce learned content in a variety of ways. Miles above typical "repeat after me" tutorials!

Update: if I could give this zero stars instead of one star I would. Several months ago I decided to stop using this app for the reasons below. I decided today to give it a shot, "paid" some of my credits to Master a lesson, I took the lesson and aced it and then the app immediately crashed roll back the lesson to step one and still charge me against my credits. This app is dead. Move on. Last review: I was a daily and enthusiastic user of Duolingo for a long while. It was terrific. But, with this update it has gone to this inane "hearts" system which completely stymies progress. My complaint isnt that Im losing my hearts, because Im not, rather, that in order to monetize the App what Duolingo is now doing is rolling back the work youve done on lessons youve previously completed and making you do them over and over again, BUT if you want to "freeze" that lesson - that is to say, if you want your hard work to stay in place for 30 days, you can pay them. Now, the way they have it set up is that advanced language learners have to go back and slog through basic lessons just to get those lessons to appear complete again, and then they only stay complete for a day or two. Nonsense, utter nonsense. I would GLADLY pay for a subscription based service rather than the way they have this set up right now. The updates on this latest version kill the spirit of learning a language, diminish the satisfaction in mastering basics of a language, and serve as a transparent money grab. Make me pay a monthly fee, Im fine with that. Instead theyve killed one of the best apps ever developed.

how are we supposed to reset progress when you remove the option from settings? why add the heath requirement? this update has just made the app more difficult and inconvenient

I have quit using this app after the introduction of this inane new health system that is clearly designed to line the developers pockets, but at the cost of tremendous frustration for the users. Moreover my 5-month something treak was suddenly broken when I changed time zones. Good bye Duolingo.

But the health bar thing is dumb asf... this is a learning app not a video game.

This app has been wonderful in the four years that Ive used it. However, the newest update to the game is beginning to be extremely irritating. If you get five questions wrong on the lessons, it will force you to wait four hours to get back on, unless you want to pay - and it has never been like that. Please fix.

The new health thing is the worst idea i have ever heard because how am i supposed to learn when i am so nervous of running out of lives. This idea is a total scam to make me pay for more gems, but the teaching thing is pretty good. So please do this for sake of everyone else using this app to actually learn a new language.
