Not only does this app teach you common words and phrases but grammar as well! Which is so essential to truly learning a language, absolutely phénoménal. Incrédibilité!
Throughout high school I totally cheated my way through Spanish class and now the past 5 years I have wished I didnt. So Im giving it a shot again. And this app is very helpful! There have been a couple minor glitches but nothing major that would cause me to get rid of the app or give a bad review. Mostly in audio where it would repeat the last thing that was up at the same time as the current thing. But then when you click to hear it again its fine. So yeah like I said nothing major. Overall great app and learning tool!
Dual lingo is an insanely good free resource. Its creators and contributors need to be thanked a thousand times over. That being said some form of Chinese needs to be a priority for their incubator. Im sure there are huge hurdles involves with the alphabet, etc. this is just such an incredible app, that if their goal really is to connect people through language, this is the connection that will have the most impact. Again, thank you again to the creators and contributors of duolingo, and please dont stop now! Six stars!
Ive never taken the time to write a review before but this app is worth the time! Very intuitive, fun to use, and effective. Very happy a friend recommended it to me.
Learning german through this app is awesome and fun. Would highly recommend it
I absolutely LOVE Duolingo. Its probably one of the best language learning apps out there. However, I do have a suggestion. I may not speak for everyone, but I think Japanese would be a great language to learn. I know a couple of people personally who really want to learn Japanese. But, I cant give them any suggestions of apps or websites to go to, because Duolingo is the only app I have, but it doesnt have Japanese available for learning. I hope you guys consider adding Japanese to your list of languages to learn.
Add in mandarin, japanese, urdu, tagalog, cantonese and kenyan
This has really helped me be able to have full conversations with my friends in Spanish!
Really cool app! I would love it if you thought about adding either American Sign Language or Chinese! Thanks for the consideration.
I really enjoy using this app to learn languages, and I like that they add new languages to choose from. The only issues I have are using the mobile app, certain languages dont play the voices (like Irish and Ukrainian), so you dont always get to hear how most of those words are pronounced. I also miss the feature where you can slow down the speech. Other than that, I recommend it!
Bring back progress LINE GRAPH please. It was very motivating trying to top yesterdays progress. You took my incentive away when you got rid of it.
This app has quickly become my favorite as a supplement in learning Spanish. It doesnt take very much time each day and its fun to see my vocabulary build with the style of mini games offered. I highly recommend to anyone learning or just wanting a refresher (as you can test out).
Really well done. Takes you through the language as if you were a kid forming two word sentences then moving up to real grammar. Very similar to leaving a language naturally. I would say try to make a vocabulary test for each section or something though because I find myself forgetting words as I go and "practice weak skills" doesnt do the trick really
Honestly this is the best free app to learn a new language. However, I have a suggestion. I came across Duolingo trying to see if I could learn Japanese, but when I scrolled through the list of languages, there were some common ones as well as some very unknown languages. This kind of discouraged me, but I did not want to let go of the app without trying something first. Ive been doing Spanish for a while, but I realized that it does not get me as excited as learning Japanese does. I downloaded some additional free apps strictly focused on Japanese. The good news about these apps is that had 5 star ratings and good reviews all around and I learned every single lesson every single one had to offer in 4 days. The downside to these apps was that the developers did not update some of them to the point where new lessons were added to further challenge/entertain users. Please dont be one of those apps. So I was hoping that Duolingo could add the languages that are spoken the most in todays society and the ones mentioned in areas tourists visit the most in order for everyone to familiarize themselves with the languages of their areas first before adding languages that are rarely mentioned.
I use this app for Spanish and French and it has helped me so much and its fun!
This app is great, but Japanese should be a language option.
I love this app so much that I showed it to my mom so she could get better at her English. Shes improved so much. I just wish they how to learn JAPANESE!!! I wanna learn it sooo bad!!
Its a very effective app but it would be better if you added Korean and Chinese
I am slowly working through Spanish and I am quite enjoying the ride. So far I am coming away confident in what I have learned and so I think its a fantastic app. Only complaint is a small one, no Japanese. :p
