So far the best way to learn a new language.
So far the best way to learn a new language.
I played through the entire Spanish course and its hands down the best app out there for Spanish learning. I use it now to review and keep my Spanish from getting rusty. I imagine the other languages are similar as far as quality instruction. Im starting French now! Keep up the great work duolingo!
Im only into day 4 so far, but I love this app. I cant believe its free! I was considering buying Rosetta Stone to brush up on the Spanish I havent used since high school, but now i use Duolingo at least 10min a day and I really see myself improving and surprised how much I remember !
Love it
Great app to learn a foreign language. It is fun, effective and free. Perhaps a small nitpick, but the iOS app is missing the lesson notes found in the web version, so I have to first read the lesson at duolingo.com, and then (sometimes, if I dont just do the exercise on the web) come back to the app. That said, the app is snappy and when Im simply reviewing a lesson Ive done, the app is my first choice.
I cant thank the developers enough for this deceptively simple and extraordinarily useful app! Downloaded it after reading a blurb somewhere, what did I have to lose? My ignorance, as it turned out. Id learned a bit of Italian some years ago with some books & tapes (yeah, it was that long ago), but then abandoned the language when I returned home to the States. During a visit to Florence a few weeks ago, I started fooling with the app on my phone and got totally hooked. With its bite-size lessons, multiple ways of reinforcing vocab, grammar & pronunciation, Im already miles ahead of where I left off years ago. Now, whenever I have free time, Im on it. Dont be put off by the cutsie graphics, they disguise the brilliant way Duo learns your weak spots and adapts the lessons accordingly. I didnt think Id ever learn another language, now I believe I can and will thanks to this terrific little app. Wow.
Using this app for just a few days Ive really enjoyed the variety of ways it uses to teach language, and the options available. I frequently go well beyond my daily set learning goals. The only things Id like to see are additional programs for mandarin and Arabic, and alphabet tutorials for languages that arent based on the Roman alphabet. Id like to learn Russian, but its difficult in the early sessions to spell words when you arent familiar with the sounds the various letters make.
Ive wanted to learn Spanish for years. I bought a very expensive set of CDs that did little for me. Duolingo actually teaches language the way it should be taught - written, spoken, heard. I could not be happier with the app.
Its free and just as good as Rosetta Stone
I learned French really fast! Thank you for everything bc its free and all! I dont mind some bugs (I havent encountered one yet so far) BEST LANGUAGE LEARNING APP EVER SO FAR
This is free?!? What a wonderful learning tool!
Best language app Ive used. I wish it could be more verbal at times, and I feel like Mindsnacks can be better for spelling and writing but Im not incredibly far in so far so who knows if it gets better on those points. Also, its free!
I didnt enjoy the app it didnt really help me at all and really it just was not fun and it was like for me it was really not helpful and just couldnt help me get into Spanish vocabulary that much
This app is great if you like learning a language informally compared to a classroom setting. Some additions that would be great would be to add a way to review a list of the vocabulary you have learned. Also there reminders are pleasant and not pestering so you know to practice everyday.
This has been an excellent tool to help me learn another language. Ive had fun enough to where Ive got many of my family and friends to join me on the app. The methods used for teaching are keeping my attention and keeping the material fun.
I love the ease of using this app, and I think its on par with other language apps Ive tried, but seems more fun. I love the variety of styles used, so it doesnt get boring. And, I love the fact that its free. Ill be happy to pay for in app purchases when I get there.
When I speak into it I say the right thing but it marks it wrong. Maybe because of the case on my phone? Idk. I make phone calls perfectly fine. Weird
I have learned more from using this app for 2 months than I did in 4 semesters at college! It is really fun to use and I love the graphics!
This is a high quality language learning app. I have enjoyed using it. My kids also love it.
Nice job creating an app that explains and teaches. Im not sure how to switch my keyboard to a Spanish language to learn the italics yet, but it is fun using this app and learning. Thank you!
