Good

It gets a lot of things right. Its a 4 star app but Ill give it 5 since its also free. I really hope they improve the bots to make them more intelligent and diverse.

Amazing

Ive gone through several of the language courses on Duolingo and have been consistently impressed with the quality and with how much Ive learned. One app obviously isnt going to be the key to becoming fluent in any language (supplementing with other resources/practice methods is definitely necessary), but overall, I think what Duolingo has produced in terms of variety and quality is really unparalleled. And its free!

Quickly surpassed my high school German background

Nothing has inspired me to strive for fluency like Duolingo.

SO USEFUL

this app is really helpful. it starts off easy and ets harder, but it is still pretty simple to remember the words you have previously learned. five stars!

It works!

Fun and effective! You gotta try it!

Love!

Love this app! Please add Lithuanian as an option to learn! ??

AWESOME

This is the best way to learn new languages!!!!!!

Latest Hebrew Version (Still) Not Fully Functional

The latest version (March 13) still has not fixed the problem of improperly justifying English translation boxes. When one composes ones own translation from Hebrew to English, the English justifies to the right, rather than to the left, which makes it impossible to know when one has typed a space (intentionally or accidentally), creating all sorts of mistaken auto-correct problems if one is not extremely attentive. I gave this app five stars when I first started using it, and then four stars when the Hebrew broke, and now Im down to three stars because this problem with the English composition boxes has been going on for over a week (and two updates). I wouldnt be so irritated if the app didnt keep requesting reviews for an already buggy beta version of the app (there have been several mistaken answers in various units). And it also is sad to see that several of the functions of the app available in Spanish or other languages (conversation, for instance) are not available in the Hebrew. I fear that the Hebrew version is languishing now and might not ever get out of beta.

Doesnt work with new update

Ever since the latest update, it wont load on my iPad mini 3

Its good but...

This is a great app and its awesome that its free, but Im a little upset about the way they introduce verbs and such. They dont really tell you why certain words are extended or anything like that. They just give it to you

A few suggestions

Im trying to learn Ukrainian which is a very confusing language when it comes to pronouncing words. It would be nice if it always had an option to play an audio clip of a sentence. It doesnt teach rules of the language and words either. Ive also used this app for Spanish and I noticed that there were SEVERAL things other languages had that Ukrainian didnt. Like, it taught rules of the language and had fun qualities that encouraged learning. But the Ukrainian lessons are very disappointing compared to these other language lessons and its not encouraging making an effort to learn the language. And it doesnt teach when to use certain words or even what they mean. Luckily my dads whole side of the family speaks Ukrainian so they can teach me things like that but some people wont have that advantage. Also, I found a lot of incorrect translations but Im sure you guys are working on that. And sometimes it asks me to translate something Ive never been taught and doesnt give a definition. I hope you consider this, thanks!

Great, but needs a little tweaking

This app is great, but doesnt let me use synonyms. I already have prior knowledge on the languages I am learning in Duolingo, so I know my wording is mostly accurate, but Duolingo sometimes marks my answers incorrect just because I learned to translate differently. All in all, this is a great app as long as you remember their is more than one way of saying something in another language, even if you do have to do things their way to get credit. You should still download it. Enjoy!

Please add Flashcards!

I LOVE this app! I am learning Norwegian and was able to practice with some others in real life and I felt like I was actually learning from this app! I really wish they would add flash cards, because at some point the words add up, and Id like to practice outside of the sentence structure or phrases. Thats why Im taking away one star - but otherwise, fantastic app!

AMAZING app but...

You guys took away the feature, where in the part where you have to type what it says, you could say, "I cant speak right now" you guys took that away in an update and I need it! Please add it back ?

Gerrrrr???‍♀️?

I like how there are different ways to learn. I also like how it reads it to me but some times it does not read it. And when I am using the microphone i say the right thing and it counts it wrong so i lose all ok my health so I have to wait. I dont like the way I can only mess up 5 times . I also have a hard time spelling and when it wants me to do it in a different language I get like one letter wrong I lose a health.

good but korean??

they should add korean and japanese for english speakers!! but otherwise I love the app :)

Its wonderful!

A very fun and addictive app but they still dont have languages like Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc. and I really hope to learn those languages on Duolingo.

Im obsessed

So I studied Russian in college and forgot virtually all of it over the past 40 years. Russian stuff in the news stirred an interest in picking it up again. Duolingo is a fantastic way to study--just enough new stuff in each component to keep it challenging and interesting, fun enough to keep it addictive (Im currently on a 21-day streak). After a little over two months Im amazed to catch myself thinking in Russian and am totally motivated to keep going.

This is app is a MUST

Im shocked I got this app for free. It is amazing! You can learn multiple languages on Duolingo and all of the lessons are actually CORRECT! (According to my Italian Grandma.) This is the best free language learning app in the entire App Store. Five stars!!
