Ive been doing the Spanish language lessons since the first of the year. While I cant consider myself proficient yet, its so much fun, and the program is great about reminding... I think Ill just keep coming back! Its working.
Some words are a little off but I would say this is worth learning a new language!
I truly enjoy practicing my second language using this app. The only flaws i see is when the mic does not get what you say correctly and when the app asks you to translate what they say in Spanish by typing it out. At times it is hard to comprehend what they say and you may type the incorrect translation.
Currently learning 4 languages and am loving this app!!!! Great for learning by inculcation!
Fun and easy to use. The daily use challenges me to use it more.
Learning something new everyday! I see myself improving in French.
Such a great resource.
Duo is great
This Duolingo app has been so fun and helpful in learning Spanish. I studied in school but hadnt brushed up until I came across this app. I love the little owl and how fun it is to pass levels. I would recommend this app to anyone wanting to learn another language. I have also tried French and Dutch. There are so many options. I hope this is always free as I would like to learn several languages. Thank you Duolingo!
Latest update removed freeze option? I had one purchased but have no idea if it will be honored let alone if i can purchase again? Why did they remove it? Fix this ASAP
This is an excellent way to supplement learning a language. The format is intuitive and really fun and rewarding. I am currently using it to study German, a language I knew almost nothing about before I started, and I certainly feel like I make progress every time I use the app. Some small complaints: New words and tenses are sometimes given without an explanation or definition (though sometimes you can click on it for a definition). Capitalization in the word selection games usually gives away the first word. I like that the app keeps it super simple-- just turn it on and play the games. But a short little introductory paragraph to each section would be nice. For instance, describing why certain tenses are used in certain situations, and which new words will be introduced. I really like the audio analysis questions. Pretty impressive that that is even possible. I wonder if some analysis for where you went wrong would be possible.
Mistakes were made when they went to this new format. The health meter completely interferes with the learning process. You are forced to wait, watch ads, or buy your way instead of having many attempts. Very annoying compared to how the app used to be.
I am doing the Dutch language. One time I wrote I could not respond to questions orally, and I have never been given an oral question since have tried everything in settings but no go.
One of the easiest ways to learn a language, Ive tried other ways but none have worked as well as this.
Duolingo managed to create an app that is effective and fun. I am up to five lessons in Swedish.
Fantástico app
Im loving this app, the short lessons are great and the pronunciation voice overs are very helpful. The only problem Ive encountered is sometimes it will speak and sentence and give me a "type what she said" test, and she had spoken a word I had not previously seen spelled out, causing me to get it wrong and lose a health bar. And when you are learning German trying to spell a word you havent seen is difficult at best. To fix this I would change it to ensure you never have to spell a word you havent seen, or increase the health you have a few bars. This is a fantastic app in every other regard so far. Thanks to whoever made it
I am in love with this app. Have been brushing up in my Franciss for a trip to Canada and it is super easy to get lost in going over it. My 9year old loves reviewing his Spanish too.
I have been using this app since since 2013, initially with Spanish, a couple of years late added Italian and French. Love it. Tried to get a couple of XPs done each day. Current streak is 450 days. I have had 400+ days before and were only broken with an oversea trip and a cruise.
