Duolingo Learn Many Languages for Free App Reviews

My favorite language learning app ever seems as though they hired some ex Rosetta employee who knows nothing about app development. The ads and design of the payment system are so obnoxious and the difference between desktop and phone is not at all smooth. Please fix this app and Ill gladly pay for it - but not until then.

German - The voices are inconsistent and sometimes pronounce things incorrectly. Also voice recognition is hit or miss. It will sometimes correctly detect what I said and then change the words to something wrong immediately when I hit "check", then says I am wrong. Finally, Duolingo will sometimes introduce variations of a new word and not explain it at all (Dein, deine).

I was getting pretty good at learning my Spanish until the words like come and comemos came in. I had (and still have!) no idea when Im suppose to be using the words. You need a part where whenever the user gets something wrong, it explains why it was wrong instead of just moving on and telling you to use that word. I think this is a major thing that you need to add, because anyone who is just relying solely on this app, is NOT going to be able to speak the language that they are learning 100%. Second thing, we do not forget our skills as quickly as you may think. After two days of not being on here you would think that you only lose one bad or even zero bars. But no, apparently we forget everything that we have been practicing for the past 6 months. Next.. the bonus skills. Okay, now I understand that these skills are suppose to be special, but do they really have to be that expensive? The price should change to at least 750 diamonds. Also, the health bar is terrible. It prevents us users from being able to learn our skills completely. Last night I was on the very last question in that session, and when I got it wrong I also ran out of health. This is a major upset, and I think, can prevent users from wanting to use this app again. Oh, the ads! There is wayy too many ads. I understand youre trying to make money, but the amount of ads is sending people away from this app. If youd lessen the amount of ads, more people would use this app. The I cannot listen/cannot speak right now is absolutely amazing! Sometimes I only have time to do it when Im in the car with my family, and they dont need to hear me speaking Spanish. So, bonus points for that!

I would now give 0 stars if possible. I actually have no problem with the ads since I use the free version. However, I got to "Past Tense #10 out of 10" and am unable to go any further. On a multiple choice question, there is no answer that will be accepted. I cannot continue since the program will not allow me to unless I answer "correctly" regardless of how many lives I have. PREVIOUS REVIEW I have noticed that when I start a new section, there is no "teaching". It starts out asking the questions without teaching you what the words are. I go through my lives very quickly. Even if I "cheat" and consult another source, there will be variations from one answer to the other. Very frustrating. And there are MANY errors on the multiple choice questions. No choice is accepted. But it is still fun. I just hope what I am learning is correct PREVIOUS REVIEW I have been shut out again. I get so nervous when I use this app that I hit the "continue" button accidentally. I go through my 5 lives very fast. If I paid for extra lives, it would cost me a fortune!! Plus, they give questions without teaching you about the word. I need to say that I would have given Duolingo 5 stars before they changed the app. I have been using Duolingo for a while. I make mistakes, but that is how I learn. Now, however, I can only make 5 mistakes and I have to wait about 5 hours to get one more life!! I can make 5 mistakes in 5 minutes!! Oh well...

A very good software!

Love this app. I use it to refresh my Spanish and learn Japanese! ? Please add Mandarin Chinese. THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR FIXING THE JAPANESE LESSON BUG! Now I can progress! Also add an option to a slow version of the word/sentence in Japanese and have it in romanji. Thanks

It is a great app and it helps you learn and for me it makes learning a lot more fun

The health system is absolutely unreasonable! I want to learn French and twin doing well but if I mess 5 things up I cant learn for the rest of the day! You should be able to learn freely whenever you want. Not just try to do it without losing a life. Dont get me wrong Duolingo really helps me learn French but I cant seem to ever keep up my streak because I always lose lives.??

The Duolingo app is good for keeping up with languages. I use it every day for French, Spanish, and German. The frustrating part is that your "fluency" rating is a benchmark of progress, but it is inconsistent: "Youve reached 59% fluency!" (German) only to be down to 56% on the next screen. 12 straight days of doing 4-5 French lessons per day at 32% fluency, only to find Im 31% today. I guess it wants you to go back and redo things, but its just odd to see it drop when youre active. Anyhow, that aside, I like the app and recommend it for improving your language skill.

Its only supposed to be for fundamentals so its excellent. People just always have something to complain about, as for me it does he job and Im happy with this free app lol

The health bars are dumb , you used to be able to continue going even if you got 5 wrong

I love it such a good way to learn another language......I am easily frustrated with learning things like a new language and this is not frustrating at all!!!
