It would be fun to have an option where you can change the main language ex. French-Spanish instead of English-Spanish is that possible?
I gave money to encourage Duolingo. And I am sure a lot of people did it. But it is not enough for them! They want more! So they purposefully changed the rules and how duo works to force people to give them money! Now they started Duolingo plus for 12.99$/month! They should charge much less! They are already gaining a lot of money! But Duo is greedy! Duolingo was great! Now it is sick!
Im quite happy with this app. My only complaint is the bars in the skills seem to degrade quickly. But it looks like that might be tied to struggles you have in other lessons and Ive found that more times than not I find redoing them helps future lessons.
Its a great app. Im taking a Greek course but its so annoying when I have to tip in Greek because I dont have a Greek letter keyboard and I cant tip in Greek.
Inappropriate sexually explicit ads. Potentially very embarrassing if youre studying in public. Many of the challenges or activities are a bit too basic. I can often figure out the answers without actually learning. Simply by arranging the terms at the bottom into a coherent sentence is enough even without looking at the target language at the top of the screen. In the Japanese learning section some of the text is very hard to read due to the color. Any complicated kanji becomes impossible to see in the light yellow highlighted text. Im happy to FINALLY have a Japanese section so I can use the app and it is fun. So Ill keep at it at least a little longer.
I was enjoying this until I tried the Android version and found out what I was missing. Android has but not the iPad - See activity of other users in a club (compare, compete) - Give feedback that another translation is valid - See how many XP I have for each language. Great app, but there are a lot of features missing in the iPad version.
Its not a bad app, but theres just loads of ads, and you get limits now. It was so much better when there wasnt limits and it also helped learning a language much more.
Loved this, even with the ads....the health meter is annoying but I will do prior lesson reviews for more "health"...just starting German so I dont mind going back over stuff. However, I just hit lesson 5 in the "phrases" section, and they dont even give you the words or their meanings before asking you to type it from a spoken phrase, or translate from written. How can you correctly translate words/phrases you have never even seen before? Ive tried it several times, but will have to use a separate device to try and look up the words just to get through the lesson - kind of defeats the purpose.
Easy way to learn a language
I enjoy the app so much with learning Japanese. The only problem is that when I go to store, it automatically kicks me out all the time. So if you fix this problem, I will award a five star rating if you fix it. Other than that, its a good app.
Even when I am online. Had to repeat lessons numerous times. Why?
Ive been using the relatively new addition to duolingo, Japanese, for over a month now and I like the language learning aspect of it. That said I have been having a lot of trouble with how it keeps track of my progress. When I only have one gap in a section Ive completed it sometimes takes me 2-4 times of perfectly completely a practice round in that category to get my bars back up to full. It also often doesnt count a section Ive done towards completely my daily goal so instead of doing 5 sections Ill have to do 6 or 7 to be sure I dont lose my streak. Today Im really irritated because I did completely my daily goal yesterday and when I opened the app this morning I was greeted with a message saying I had lost my 14 day streak and I could pay $3.99 for pleasure of getting back what I had already earned. This is frustrating and I hope that duolingo sees fit to restore my streak without charging me and fix these issues.
I like this app. I wish it would teach the very basics like the alphabet, numbers, days of the week, months etc. I wish they would fix the app. I had a 30 day streak and at day 31 until today, which would be day 36, it wont register anything Ive done. I cant collect the daily reward and it crashes when it loads. Whats going on with this app?? It was working fine until the August 11th update.
Duolingo is quite helpful, but its not helpful enough. Im learning French, its a language Ive been interested in since I was little. The application helps me learn some things and get a better understanding of what I already know, but when it comes to changing the verb endings, it gets confusing. The pronunciation of the words can be a bit confusing at times also. I usually check with Siri to see if Im saying it correctly, or if it at least understands what Im trying to say. For example, Duolingo was trying to teach me how to say rice or riz (in French), but I couldnt really understand how it was being pronounced. Thats my only complaint. I wont say I dont like the application, because I do. I enjoy the bot conversations and I enjoy spelling and of course learning some new French words. I will admit, it is pretty good for a free app. Not many free foreign language learning apps are like this one. So I have mixed feelings about it.
I rate this 5 stars it definitely helped me learn Spanish well and fast. I also love talking to the bots its great! Download now
I know its a really good app, Ive used it for Spanish before. Unfortunately there isnt a Korean course. Ive downloaded this app multiple times to check and see if it has one yet they never add it. This app has an option to speak a language if you already know Korean but no course to learn it. Please add a Korean language course and Ill rate 5 stars
German - The voices are inconsistent and sometimes pronounce things incorrectly. Also voice recognition is hit or miss. It will sometimes correctly detect what I said and then change the words to something wrong immediately when I hit "check", then says I am wrong. Finally, Duolingo will sometimes introduce variations of a new word and not explain it at all (Dein, deine).
Im learning Italian and it is going great! My friend is now taking French!
My main issue with this app is the reminder notification. If you set it for a certain time but do it later, the next day it will notify you at the time you actually did it rather than the time you set. I lost my streak cause it stopped notifying me ;-;
